Reconsideration of the provisions of constitution is called constitutional Review.
Need for constitutional review has always been a topic of raging debate across the country. Indian constitution was framed in 1946-1949, and after 60 years of its working, Indian political system has changed much far. Influence of outer world, globalization and some other causes have made it necessary to review our constitution. In some respects, the constitution, though it is impressive, has failed to translate noble principles into tangible, practical instruments.

The constitutions forms the base of whole system. Therefore it must be must be with the pace of time. Situations that may come in time, it must be handled with ease by the provisions of constitution.

Some major aspects that may demand constitutional review are as follows:

• Indian constitution have Directive-Principles, they should be backed up with implementing mechanism.
• A national convention is required to protect agricultural and other traditional occupational people from adverse affect from drought, flood, earthquakes and cyclone.
• The constitution was framed at the time of British rule. Some British influences have crapted in the constitution.
• Provisions regarding the post of Governor and the use of Article 356 in states have been very controversial.
• Demand for greater autonomy to states is an issue demanding early attention.
• Some provisions regarding federal structure of India are very tough to amend. So review will help to rethink them.
• A special attention is also needed to control the population.
• Special status to some states should not have been the part of the constitution anymore.
• A judicial council is requirement of the day at both Apex level and state level.
• Present political scenario such as coalition government, hung parliament and emergence of regional political parties demand constitutional review.
• And above all more than hundred amendments have been done so far, that is a clear indication that our constitution requires changes.
