For the first time in four years, a male candidate has topped the prestigious Civil Services Examination 2013, result of which where declared on Thursday. City-based Gaurav Agrawal has got the first rank in the exam with Economics as his optional subject.

He holds Bachelor of Technology (Computer Science) degree from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur and Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow.

He Said; "I realised that the duty of a civil servant is much more challenging and quite different. Here we understands the public issues and ground problems of people in the country. So, I finally decided to quit my bank job and returned to India from Bangkok for the preparations in 2011." This was his second attempt.

Gaurav is a serving IPS officer posted in Jaipur. Earlier, he had worked with City Bank for three years in Bangkok.

There are 15 men and 10 women in the top 25. Among them, 24 took the examination in English and one in Kannada. Nine of them are from an Engineering background, three from Medical Sciences, four from Sciences and nine from Commerce, Humanities and other Social Sciences. Five of them have made it to the merit list in their first attempt, 11 in the second attempt, seven in the third and two in their fourth attempt. Source: ndtv.com

इस बार सिविल सेवा परीक्षा 2013 के नतीजों में गौरव अग्रवाल ने टाप किया है, दूसरे नंबर पर मुनीश शर्मा रहे और तीसरा नंबर रचित राज को मिला है। टाप 10 की लिस्ट में लडकियां भी है, भारती दीक्षित, साक्षी साहनी और मेघा रूपम। इसकी अलावा UPSC IAS 2013 की परीक्षा में कुल 1122 (ग्यारह सौ बाईस) परीक्षार्थियों ने कामयाबी हासिल की है, इनमें सामान्य वर्ग से 517 (पांच सौ सत्रह), ओबीसी (OBC) वर्ग के 326 (तीन सौ छब्बीस), एससी (SC) वर्ग से 187 (एक सौ सत्तासी) और एसटी (ST) वर्ग से 92 (बयानवे) अभ्यार्थी हैं।

आपको बता दें कि पिछ्ले चार साल में ये पहली बार है जब सिविल सेवा परीक्षा में किसी पुरुष कैंडीडेट ने टाप किया है। साल 2010, 2011 और 2012 में लडकियों ने बाजी मारी थी। इस बार के टापर गौरव अग्रवाल की बात करें तो वो जयपुर (राजस्थान) के रहने बाले हैं, IIT Kanpur (आईआईटी कानपुर) से B.Tech. (बी.टेक) हैं, और इन्होंने आई आई एम लखनऊ (IIM Lucknow) से मैनेजमेंट में पोस्ट ग्रेजुएट का डिपलोमा किया है।
